Like many modern couples, our friends J & K have lived in separate cities for a significant portion of their relationship. Since they are unable to sit next to each other, we wanted to make them a love seat that could be carried around whenever they're apart. So, we took several famous, historical pieces of furniture (that are also love seats) and turned them into pendants.
Each pendant is crafted with care, and finished to eventually show a patina - meaning that each seat is unique, and hand finished with a refined wax that is used by the British Museum. These pieces are heavier than they look, because we chose to cast in solid bronze, a lasting, classic material that artists have used throughout the ages to commemorate a monumental figure or moment.
The first LoveSeat is the Le Corbusier LC2, one of the most famous pieces of furniture ever designed and it can be found in museums world-wide, including New York's MoMA. A little known fact is that the LC2 was actually designed by Charlotte Perriand, in 1927. She was 25. A progressive female designer in a field dominated by men, she and Le Corbusier collaborated for nearly 10 years. Perriand believed that "better design helps in creating a better society."
We couldn't agree more.
